The Abrasion and Tear Resistance of Construction Gloves

Our gloves are made for tough jobs in construction. They have strong abrasion and tear resistance, giving you reliable protection from rips. Let me explain how we achieved this.

Abrasion Resistance of Construction Gloves

To withstand the harsh conditions of construction sites, we have enhanced the abrasion resistance of our gloves to handle wear caused by concrete, masonry, and metal sheets. We conduct testing in accordance with EN 388:2016 and ASTM D3389-10 standards.

Our construction gloves have a nitrile coating. This gives them 5 to 8 times more abrasion resistance than regular cotton gloves. The 18-gauge seamless knit liner has been tested. It meets EN 388 Level 4 for abrasion resistance with over 8,000 cycles. The HPPE and steel wire design also meets ANSI Level 5 for abrasion resistance. All test data is traceable. Ideal for high-intensity tasks such as material handling and concrete pouring.

These construction work gloves offer excellent abrasion resistance

Tear Resistance of Construction Gloves

Our construction gloves deliver outstanding tear resistance. We utilize a blend of HPPE and steel wire to create a physical cut-resistant barrier. Suitable for applications such as metal fabrication, rebar tying, and glass handling.

Tear resistance is tested in accordance with the ASTM F2992-15 standard. Our in-house lab has a complete set of testing tools. Our engineers each have over 8 years of experience in the industry. We offer material selection and structural optimization solutions just for you.

Frequentiy Asked Questions

Choosing the right construction gloves is very important. When selecting gloves, consider the following factors:

  • Type of protection: Construction work involves many different tasks. The risks involved and the type of protection required vary. –
    • When handling sharp materials or tools, choose gloves with excellent cut resistance.
    • When working with heavy machinery or using a hammer, choose gloves that offer impact protection.
    • Choose gloves with good breathability for summer work and those with good thermal insulation for winter work.
  • Glove Material: Different gloves offer different protective properties. Leather provides excellent durability. Synthetic fibers offer excellent tear and cut resistance. Blended fabrics and cotton offer high comfort.
  • Fit and Size: Choose the appropriate size based on the dimensions of your hand. Refer to the size chart.
  • Safety Standards: Pay attention to the Protection Level of the gloves. European Standard EN 388.

The following are common types of work gloves used on construction sites:

  • General-purpose construction gloves: The most common choice for everyday work on construction sites. They offer good comfort and high flexibility, as well as decent Grip Performance. They are primarily suitable for light construction work.
  • Impact-Resistant Gloves: Feature reinforced padding. Thermoplastic rubber is incorporated in specific areas, such as the Knuckle Area or the back of the hand. They absorb impact and provide cushioning. These are essential for tasks involving the operation of heavy machinery and tools.
  • Cut-Resistant Gloves: Made from high-performance synthetic fibers. They provide effective protection during tasks on construction sites involving materials like glass, rebar, plaster, and panels that pose a risk of cuts.
  • Waterproof Gloves: Construction sites often involve contact with liquids such as concrete slurry and mud. Workers may also need to handle construction wastewater. Waterproof gloves effectively repel water, protect hands from contamination, and keep them dry and comfortable, thereby improving work efficiency.

There are many types of materials used in construction gloves. Among them, the most common ones with excellent durability include leather, synthetic fibers, and synthetic leather. The most widely used combination with outstanding durability is aramid fiber with a nitrile coating.

  1. Aramid + Nitrile Coatings: Aramid can serve as the Base Liner for gloves. Its abrasion resistance is superior to that of polyester and nylon. The nitrile coatings effectively resist long-term friction and wear. This combination is suitable for high-wear tasks in the construction industry, such as handling rebar and installing structural panels.
  2. Leather Materials: Animal leather features dense collagen fibers and a unique structure. It is sturdy and durable, effectively protecting hands from cuts and abrasions.
  • The most commonly used leather materials include: yellow cowhide and buffalo leather.
  • Synthetic leather offers durability comparable to genuine leather but provides superior comfort.

To address environmental concerns, the glove industry is actively embracing sustainability. Many eco-friendly construction gloves are now available on the market. They are typically made from more environmentally friendly materials while offering excellent protective performance and durability, as follows:

  • Recycled polyester:  A renewable polyester fiber made from recycled plastic bottles. It offers excellent durability and moisture resistance, making it ideal for heavy-duty gloves.
  • Biodegradable nitrile rubber:  Organic compounds are added to the nitrile rubber to accelerate the rate at which microorganisms break down the material.

Construction safety gloves are typically made of synthetic materials. Proper care and maintenance can effectively extend the lifespan of construction safety gloves. Please note the following:

  1. Washing Recommendations: Gloves with nitrile or latex coatings should be washed with a neutral, mild detergent. Cotton gloves are machine washable.
  2. Drying Recommendations: Nitrile or latex gloves with coatings should be air-dried. Cotton gloves can be tumble-dried.
  3. Storage Recommendations: Store in a cool, dry place. Leather gloves can be treated with leather conditioner to maintain surface moisture and prevent drying and cracking.
  4. Regular Inspection: Check for wear, tears, or holes. If severe wear is detected, replace the gloves promptly!

When purchasing construction gloves in bulk, we recommend focusing on the following aspects:

  1. Protection: Choose based on specific work tasks. If you need to handle sharp tools, select construction gloves with excellent cut resistance. For tasks involving lifting or gripping, choose gloves with coatings on the Palm Area to effectively improve grip.
  2. Glove Material: Different materials offer different functionalities. Nitrile-coated gloves provide excellent cut resistance while remaining flexible and lightweight. Leather gloves offer superior durability. Also consider the season: choose breathable options for summer and insulated options for winter. Select based on your specific protection needs.
  3. Size: Size affects comfort and fit. Select the appropriate size based on the size chart.
  4. Safety Standards: Check the gloves’ safety standards. Verify compliance with the U.S. cut-resistant test ANSI/ISEA 105. The European chemical resistance standard EN374, and whether the gloves meet OSHA safety requirements.

With numerous glove suppliers available, selecting a trustworthy partner is critical. Focus on the following criteria:

  • Certifications: Prioritize gloves certified to international safety standards such as EN 388, ISO 9001, and ANSI/ISEA 105.
  • Physical Protection Testing: Verify that the supplier conducts tests including chemical resistance, abrasion resistance, and tensile strength testing. These quantifiable results reflect the gloves’ actual protective performance in complex agricultural environments.
  • Pre-mass Production Samples: Request samples before placing bulk orders to evaluate comfort, fit, durability, and protective performance.
  • Brand Credibility: Choose reputable manufacturers with strict quality control systems. M-tide has over 10 years of professional experience in producing work gloves and is a reliable choice.

A reliable and trustworthy construction glove supplier is crucial. You can make your selection based on the following factors.
